Hope you had an awesome Thanksgiving, indulged on all of your favorite foods, and spent some quality time with loved ones!
Some of you may have stepped on the dreaded scale the next day.
Some of you may still be avoiding it (same here 😂).
If you did weight yourself, the scale probably went up.
I can assure you that you DID NOT gain body fat unless you ate an entire pie or said “screw it” and went completely off the rails the rest of the holiday weekend.
If the scale did go up, here’s why…
1) You ate more than you usually do so your stomach is holding more food -> i.e. more weight on the scale.
2) You ate more carbs or sodium which causes more water retention -> i.e. more weight on the scale.
3) You slept poorly or had alcohol which again causes more water retention -> i.e. more weight on the scale.
I can promise you, if you go back to your normal routine after a week, the scale will normalize and you’ll be back to where you were before.
So get back to your normal routine and opt to avoid the scale for a couple more days or if you do use your scale remember your weight is just the force exerted on an object due to gravity 🙂
You decide how that number affects you, so don’t let it.
If this is something you constantly struggle with and you need some guidance, you know where to find me.
