Eat less and move more to lose weight? – 11/07/24

It’s a race to the bottom.

Let me share a real-life example of why consistently eating less and moving more or restricting yourself harder can actually result in getting further from your body composition goals.

I recently spoke with Sherry, and she was beyond frustrated. She couldn’t understand why reaching her weight loss felt like an impossible uphill battle.

For years, Sherry had been on the yo-yo cycle of trying and failing—repeating the same process, losing and then regaining the same 30lbs.

Recently, she experimented with Ozempic, which seemed promising at first. She started out strong, wasn’t eating hardly anything, was losing the weight, and within weeks, she noticed some changes.

However, as she continued to progress through treatment, she felt terrible. The treatment required her to increase her dosage every week.

By the end of the treatment, she lost all her strength, was having digestive issues, was hardly eating anything because it hurt, and her weight loss had plateaued. When she went off the treatment, everything unraveled. The cravings hit, her energy was in the toilet, her metabolism was destroyed, and all the progress she had worked so hard for was undone. She gained back everything she lost and more.

Sound familiar?

This isn’t about a lack of self-discipline. It’s a physiological response. When you push your body to the extreme—whether it’s cutting back on food or pushing it too hard in the gym—your body or mind fights back. It craves balance.

And that’s exactly what I told Sherry.

What if there was a different approach?

What if you could achieve weight loss without depriving yourself or burning out?

What if you could see progress while enjoying the things you love—like family time, social events, or the occasional indulgence?

What if, instead of chasing temporary results, you focused on a long-term strategy that builds your metabolism for good?

That’s exactly what I’m doing for Sherry now—no more racing to the bottom. Instead, we’re focusing on priming her metabolism and building sustainable habits that align with her goals and her life.

In 1 year, she’ll be exactly where she wants to be. But most importantly, she’ll have the tools to stay there for good.

No more fad diets. No more frustration. Just real, sustainable success.
