Happy Friday! Welcome back to Fit Habit Friday #19!!! Hope you’ve had a great week so far 🙂

Thanks for reading! This week I’m going to talk about how to not get fat this holiday season…

1) Cut the stress

The holiday season is always super stressful! There’s always a lot of travel and often time family drama.  Stress can cause poor sleep which can lead to stress eating and less control around food.  Make sure to make time to mange your stress this holiday season by taking some time for yourself to de-stress.

2) Prioritize the order of how you eat your food

Eat your protein and veggies first! Protein and fiber are very satiating so eating them first will crush cravings and prevent you from overeating the higher calorie indulgent foods.

3) Drink plenty of water

Sometimes that feeling of hunger is really dehydration!  So make sure you’re drinking 1/2 your body weight in oz of water daily to help decipher a true hunger signal from thirst.

4) Bring a healthy dish to your holiday dinners

There is always plenty of meat, desserts, casseroles, and indulgent appetizers, but most holiday gatherings don’t have very many vegetables (no green bean casserole does not count 😂).  Bringing a healthier option, like roasted vegetables, can help make sure you’re getting in some fiber and protein before indulging on the delicious desserts.

5) Be mindful about your food choices

You should indulge on the holidays! You should eat your favorite dessert, casseroles, and dishes.  Just be mindful about your decisions and eat the desserts and dishes that are the MOST meaningful to you.  My favorite holiday desserts are my mom’s pumpkin-pecan pie and mother-in-law’s apple pie, so I always make sure to have some of each, but I usually avoid the other desserts because they aren’t as special to me and I son’t really care much for them.

6) Go for a walk after your big meals

You should indulge on the holidays! You should eat your favorite dessert, casseroles, and dishes.  Just be mindful about your decisions and eat the desserts and dishes that are the MOST meaningful to you.  My favorite holiday desserts are my mom’s pumpkin-pecan pie and mother-in-law’s apple pie, so I always make sure to have some of each, but I usually avoid the other desserts because they aren’t as special to me and I son’t really care much for them.

7) Schedule workouts with your family and friends

The holidays are all about spending time with your loved ones, so might as well stay active together.  That usually makes the activity a lot more fun and can be a great way to bond and enjoy each other’s company!
