Welcome back to Fit Habit Friday #8! Keep reading to learn what’s worse for you than smoking, why dairy is KING, a simple way to reduce insulin resistance, and why stress kills…
Loneliness is worse for you than smoking 15 cigarettes a day! Being a part of a community and building meaningful relationships is a super underrated part of health. From personal experience, I can say I was at my lowest mentally 2020-2021 due to the forced isolation. Find a community, build relationships, and reach out for help if you are lonely!
TLDR: Build meaningful relationships and connections!
Dairy is super nutrient dense and contrary to popular belief is actually amazing for humans! The only people who shouldn’t eat dairy are people who are intolerant to it. Even if you are lactose intolerant, you may be able to eat fermented dairies because the live active cultures in them eat the lactose so they are essentially lactose free. Personally, I’ve been really digging cottage cheese lately. If you haven’t tried cottage cheese, try it with some potatoes and everything bagel seasoning. It sounds weird but trust me its delicious 😋
TDLR: If you aren’t intolerant to diary products, you should be having them on a daily basis!
Go on 10+ minute walks after each meal. Walking after meals has shown to aid digestion and help lower your blood sugar levels. Going on a walk after dinner is also a great way to connect with your family, friends, and partner 🙂
TLDR: Go on a stroll after you eat!
Our bodies can only handle so much stress. You can build up your capacity by exercising, eating a well balanced diet, and managing your stressor, but you body can only handle so much. If stress isn’t managed well, it can lead to disease, high blood pressure, weight gain and more.
I’ve been under a lot of stress recently. My husband just had surgery, my shoulder is still healing, and I’m working 12-14 hour days every day because I work a demanding 9-5 while trying to grow a coaching business. I’ve been running on fumes and my body has shown me I can’t keep running at this pace. I keep waking up multiple times throughout the night without the ability to go back to sleep, which has negatively impacted my mood, my overall energy levels, and my immune system. Suffice to say I got sick. My body forced me to slow down and take an entire week off 😅
Don’t let your body force you take a break. Manage your stressors and don’t overcommit yourself.
I’m going to start meditating so if y’all have any recommendations, please let me know 🙂
TLDR: Stress is detrimental to overall health and wellness, so find a way to manage your stressors 🙂
