This week we’re talking all about sleep and how it can drastically improve your quality of life.
Stretch before bed.
Stretching before bed can help calm your central nervous system and get your body into a parasympathetic (relaxed) state.
If you aren’t sleeping 7-9hrs of sleep a night, you’re stepping over dollar bills to pick up pennies.
Sleeping less than 7 hours increases your risk of diabetes, obesity, and overall metabolic ruin.
Sleeping 7-9 hours of quality sleep a night will set up your hormone profile in an optimal way and will provide you with better fat loss, muscle building, and overall health. Check this out for more info.

10 hours before bed stop drinking caffeine ~ Caffeine has a fairly long half-life and if you’re consuming it in the late afternoon it’s definitely impacting the quality of your sleep. It’s not like caffeine is a stimulant. Read this if you don’t believe me.
3 hours before bed stop eating ~ This is not a hard and fast rule, but personally I’ve noticed a big improvement in my sleep quality. It can be tough to go to bed when you feel your stomach digesting dinner, so I highly recommend trying this out if you haven’t already.
2 hours before bed stop drinking fluids ~ Often times people have disrupted sleep and it’s due to a full bladder. Avoiding any beverage 2 hours before sleep can prevent that from happening 🙂
1 hour before bed turn off electronics or put on blue light blocking glasses ~ Shutting off electronics before bed may be unrealistic for most people (myself included) so get some blue light blocking glasses and make sure they have an orange tint. They are super affordable. Read this for more info on blue light and it’s impact on sleep.
Alcohol really screws up the quality of your sleep.
Often times people think it helps them sleep better because they fall asleep more quickly, but really it makes the quality of your sleep much worse. It disrupts your circadian rhythm and your overall sleep quality. Check this out if you’d like to learn more.
